You'll see a new warning about thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) with Plavix (clopidogrel)...but it's not nearly as big a concern as with Ticlid (ticlopidine).
About 11 cases of TTP have been identified in patients taking Plavix...usually within 2 weeks of starting the drug.
This works out to be about 4 cases of TTP per million patients exposed to Plavix...or 2 to 3 times the incidence of TTP in the general population.
